The Ladies Acceleration Tour roared to life on Saturday evening as the series completed their first back-to-back race of the season at Maine’s biggest and fastest track: Wiscasset Speedway.

With a $500-to-win race for the Hornets and the final installment of the “Queen of the Oval” triple crown, there was much more on the line than just trophies.

As the Outlaws were unable to race on Saturday, weekly Wiscasset competitor Jarody lent his #71 machine to Kasie Kolbe, who joined the field in the Hornets. Karigan Glasier, another standout in Wiscasset’s “Roadrunners” division, elected to try her hand in the division as well.

Cathy Hubble soared to the early lead over Jody Rose in the qualifying heat. Chrissy Rizzuto also entered the battle early, making it a 3-way competition for the top spot. Jody Rose came out on top, with Dalaney Dunn sneaking in to claim the runner-up spot. Dunn later met Rose at her door, with the two drivers battling head-to-head for the top spot.

Unfortunately, points leader Destiny Overlock took a hard right into the turn 2 wall on lap 5, resulting in an immediate red flag. She was rightfully frustrated but physically okay, climbing out of the car under her own power.

Jody Rose got a huge jump on the restart, holding off Dalaney Dunn for the heat win. She also logged the fastest lap of the race on the final lap of the heat, with an impressive 19.128 second run around the oval. Chrissy Rizzuto followed, completing the top 3.

Between the heat and the feature, Kasie Kolbe overturned the #71 machine to Destiny Overlock so she could continue her points run in the division. Jody Rose took off with the early lead in the feature, but Chrissy Rizzuto went around early, resulting in a caution.

Dalaney Dunn was all over Jody Rose on the restart as Karigan Glasier lingered closely behind. Dunn dove to Rose’s inside door on lap 7, overtaking the top spot. Karigan Glasier followed her lead, claiming second.

In a surprising turn of events, Destiny Overlock lost a lap to the leaders on lap 10, effectively ending her chance at winning the “Queen of the Oval”.

Dalaney Dunn maintained her advantage in the laps that followed, scoring her first career win at Wiscasset Speedway and the coveted “Queen of the Oval” honors after entering the race fourth in the tight point standings.

The Ladies Acceleration Tour drivers, staff and family gather in victory lane.

Karigan Glasier and Jody Rose completed the top 3 in the feature. While Dalaney Dunn celebrated her win with the Two Brothers Family Racing team, Kasie Kolbe joined her fellow drivers in Victory Lane as she received the honor for the V8 Outlaws division.

“It felt really good to be back in Victory Lane after last season. From the wrecker last week at Spud Speedway after a hard hit, to topping the leaderboard at Wiscasset Speedway, is just an awesome feeling. Two Brothers Family racing put in some late nights getting the car ready for the Queen of the Oval and it paid off”, Delaney Dunn shared following the event.

The tour will have a few weeks off before returning to Riverside Speedway on Saturday, August 9th. The green flag flies at 6:00 pm.
