Zach Nicholson started his racing journey at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in the “Whiz Kids” division. He quickly moved into the Wildcat division at the speedway and made his mark as a teenager amongst his much-older competitors. He continued his racing journey in 2018 at a new track, Lee USA Speedway, in the Late Model Sportsman division. He had an impressive rookie season, but took a break from the competition last season while he and his Davis Chassis Works teammates worked on building a brand-new car. I was able to catch up with Zach recently, who discussed his excitement in getting back behind the wheel in 2020.
What do you miss most being away from the track? – “I miss the feeling of going to the track every week and I miss the competition, for sure.”
What are you looking forward to when you get back to the track? – “I’m looking forward to jumping around to a bunch of different tracks and learning how each track drives.”
What is going to be different about this season compared to past seasons? – “For me, this season is pretty crazy. We have a brand new car that we get to try out, which is a blast to drive.”
Who would you like to thank for helping you along the way? – “The first person I need to thank is Jeremy Davis at Davis Chassis Works. He built this car with me and let me learn all the way through the process. I also need to thank Belly Buster’s Sub Shop, Overhead Door Options, Hall Construction, Kid Logic, Ricker Auto Salvage, Andrew’s Auto Body, M.A. Kenison Builder & Mason and Templeton’s Snowmobiles. I’d also like to thank my parents for supporting me through all of this.”
Best of luck to Zach and the #21 Nicholson Racing Team in 2020! They will kick off their 2020 season at Lee USA Speedway next Friday, June 19th!
