Welcome to Chasing the Checkered, a new NASCAR blog. I am working on creating content that young people can relate to. Often times, people are faced with dry content and news. I want to create an online space where young fans of the sport can come together and watch/read fun driver interviews, see lighthearted news from around the sport and indulge in some giveaways!

The idea for this blog actually stemmed from the music industry. I have watched interview after interview with artists that are fun – rapid fire questions, random interviews and general lighthearted humor keeps me tuning in time and time again and allows me to gain a different perspective on the lives of my favorite artists.

Why NASCAR? I have been a lifelong NASCAR fan. It all started when I was about 10 years old. I woke up one day with a memory of watching a race with my father about a year or 2 prior – which was a race that Jeff Gordon won. As soon as I began watching the sport, I decided that Jeff Gordon was my driver. As the years went on, I couldn’t go a weekend without watching a race or listening to it on the radio. It became a lifestyle, going to at least one New Hampshire race a year with my family and tuning into the race every weekend.

The love for the sport has always remained with me. 13 years later, I still tune into NASCAR every weekend. Joey Logano is now my favorite active driver, but I will still forever hold a place in my heart for Jeff Gordon. I spend my weekends watching our local short track racing here in Maine. I was also fortunate enough to travel the NASCAR circuit with Fanatics, Inc. during the 2016 season, which further intensified my love for the sport and all of the competitors.

My goal is to feature up and coming drivers as well as some of the stars of the sport. I look forward to creating content that anyone/everyone can enjoy.

See you at the finish line, as I’ll be chasing the checkered flag.
